The recently concluded International Furniture Market held in High Point, NC, fulfilled our expectations of optimistic opportunity! England Furniture went armed with two merchandising programs to offer our dealers realistic, affordable avenues for profitable sales.
The first is MetroMix. This is a collection of contemporary styles with a retro feel in size and design. Our theme at market was “The Next Generation” and this assortment of groups clearly fits with the needs and desires of a segment of our population that is now overtaking baby boomers in number. Clean lines, skirtless, plenty of button detail, all atop a simplistic leg treatment is the future of style in metro areas. Did I say affordable?
The second collection is EZ Motion. While not an entirely new concept, it is now being offered throughout our dealer base. It contains some styles in the former program and several styles new to the England Furniture line-up. EZ Motion will include combinations of stand-alone and sectional pieces to bring comfort to the living areas of many first time motion consumers.
Based on orders written at market, our 5 top selling stationary groups were the 4X00 (new), 2Y00N (Oct. market intro), 4630 (Special), 4T00 sectional (new) and 5K00 (new). Three of our top 5 were new offerings. 78% of motion product ordered at market was EZ Motion with the most popular being the EZ170, followed closely by the EZ160. Leather sales were headed up by the 2010L in both a double reclining sofa group and a sectional treatment. The 300 sleepers were tops in their category with an old favorite, the 1304D chair, leading the accents.
The top five fabrics overall were Grande Linen, Wagga Wagga Otter, Paradigm Silt, Sawyer Cocoa and Jive Granite. The top five leathers were Galveston Vintage, Salvador Black Oak, Galveston Firebrand, Ryder Cognac and Salvador Asphalt.
